Who Is Exodus?
Exodus International is the world’s largest ministry to individuals and families impacted by homosexuality. With over 36 years of ministry experience, Exodus is committed to encouraging, educating and equipping the Body of Christ to address the issue of homosexuality with grace and truth. Since 1976, Exodus has grown to include over 250 local ministries and churches in the USA and Canada. We are also linked with other Exodus world regions outside of North America through the Exodus Global Alliance. Within both the Christian and secular communities, Exodus has challenged those who respond to homosexuals with ignorance and fear, and those who uphold homosexuality as a valid orientation. These extremes fail to convey the fullness of redemption found in Jesus Christ, a gift that is available to all who commit their life and their sexuality to Him. What Does Exodus Believe about Homosexuality?
Exodus upholds heterosexuality as God’s creative intent for humanity, and subsequently views homosexual expression as outside of God’s will. Exodus cites homosexual tendencies as one of many conditions that beset fallen humanity. Choosing to resolve these tendencies through homosexual behavior, taking on a homosexual identity, and involvement in a homosexual lifestyle is considered destructive, as it distorts God’s intent for the individual and is therefore sinful. Instead, Christ offers a healing alternative to those with homosexual tendencies. Exodus upholds redemption for the homosexual person as the process whereby sin’s power is broken, and the individual is freed to know and experience their true identity, as discovered in Christ and His Church. That process includes the freedom to grow into heterosexuality. Central to this redemption is Exodus’ desire to unite and equip the church to carry out this healing process. Exodus rejects the approaches of Christians who respond to homosexual men and women with ignorance and fear, as well as those who uphold homosexuality as a valid, Christ-centered lifestyle. To Exodus, both extremes fail to convey the fullness of redemption found in Christ — He who embodies grace and truth, and invites us to partake of Him. Exodus provides a biblical perspective that is neither condemning nor condoning, but redemptive. Mobilizing the Body of Christ
The local church is essential to the mission of Exodus. The Exodus Church Association is a referral network of caring communities with a common cause. These churches share a redemptive biblical worldview and are committed to being inviting places of worship for those affected by homosexuality. We would love for your church to join us!
